Johnny Adair multato per aggressione contro Ian Truesdale

Johnny Adair is fined for punching man outside supermarket

Johnny "Mad Dog" Adair
Former UDA Brigadier Johnny “Mad Dog” Adair was up in court last week after punching a one-time loyalist best friend at a supermarket.

Adair was ordered to pay £300 to Ian Truesdale after he floored him outside the shop in Troon, Scotland.

The court heard how the 49-year-old exiled loyalist ran in to former bosom buddy and UDA man Truesdale and his four-year-old son and seven-year-old granddaughter, who witnessed the attack.

The former terror group commander was due to stand trial next month but pleaded guilty to the assault at Ayr Sheriff Court last week.

Truesdale said he had just left the shop when he saw Adair, adding: “He put a finger on my chin and said, ‘See you, ya b*****d, take this as a warning.’ He then hit me on the side of the face.”

Defence lawyer Glenn Davis said Truesdale had threatened Adair who challenged him about selling drugs to under 16s, claiming the punch was a reaction to that.

The former Shankill Road C Company commander Adair and Truesdale fled to Scotland after the UDA feud in 2003.

Adair was sentenced in 16 years in jail in 1995 for directing terrorism but was released under the terms of the Good Friday Agreement.
