Arrestati due fratelli armati, barricati in casa a South Belfast
Two arrested after house seige
ARMED police have arrested two men in south Belfast.
Dozens of PSNI officers surrounded a property on the lower Ormeau Road on Thursday morning after two brothers barricaded themselves inside a house.
There were reports that police personnel were shot at with pellets in Powerscourt Place.
A local priest delegated with the occupants of the house before the pair eventually gave themselves up.
Speculation was that the two men were failing to obey an eviction notice.
A police spokesperson said residents in the area had been told to remain in their homes.
Speaking earlier, South Belfast MLA Anna Lo revealed the stand off has shocked the local community.
“I hope this stand off finishes as quickly and as peacefully as possible,” she said.
“This incident has shocked the community greatly. It is deeply worrying
that there is an armed stand off in such a residential area.
“The police should not feel under threat. This type of incident should be condemned by all.”
