Bomb hits City of Culture office in Derry
Office set up to organise 2013 celebrations targeted for the second time
A bomb detonated outside the City of Culture office in Derry on Wednesday night, police have reported.
There were no reports of injuries and police have yet to reveal details of the extent of the damage caused.
It is the second time that the office has been targeted – a pipe bomb was planted by dissident republicans in January, causing minor damage to the building.
Derry was awarded the right to become the 2013 UK City of Culture in 2010, an achievement that has secured cross-community support in Northern Ireland.
The city’s Shipquay Street was closed off by officers investigating the blast which they reported at about 11pm.
