Controlled explosions on abandoned car in NI
British army bomb disposal teams carried out a number of controlled explosions on a car abandoned outside a police station in west Belfast last night.
The alarm was raised at around 11pm when the vehicle was abandoned outside New Barnsley police station.
Dozens of homes in the Springmartin area were evacuated and families had to spend the night in a local community centre.
Police have not said if a bomb was inside the car or if a warning was given.
On Tuesday a car bomb exploded outside a PSNI station in Derry city centre, while yesterday a British army officer escaped a murder attempt when a booby trap device fell off his car in Bangor, Co Down.
