Incendio settario alla Ligoniel Orange Hall di Belfast

Police treat Orange Hall fire as arson

A fire in north Belfast on Tuesday night which caused extensive damage to an Orange Hall is being treated as a sectarian hate crime.

Incendio alla Ligoniel Orange Hall | Ligoniel Orange Hall arsonPolice believe the blaze at Ligoniel Orange Hall on the Crumlin Road was deliberately started in a derelict building close by.

The hall has been largely unused since a previous attack five years ago.

Most of the building was boarded up and the Orange Order are working with the police to establish the extent of the damage caused during the overnight night.

A spokesman for the Orange Order said: “What is clear, is that this is another attack on the Orange culture.

“It may well be an attempt to create community tension and we would urge anyone with information about the attack to contact the police so they can catch the culprits.”
