Marian Price: prossima udienza in ospedale?

Marian Price faces court hearing at bedside

Marian Price, Creggan - DerryA District Judge has instructed lawyers for Marian McGlinchey, also known as Price, to tell him why he should not hold a court hearing at her hospital bedside.

Mrs McGlinchey’s health has been deteriorating since she was arrested in May 2011, when the then Secretary of State Owen Paterson revoked her release.

She is charged with addressing a dissident republican rally where she was seen holding a page from which a masked man read threats against Catholic members of the PSNI.

At an adjourned hearing at the Magistrates Court in Derry, Judge Barney McElholm said he thought it would have been in the defendant’s interests to have the inquiry hearing proceed rather than have it hanging over her head.

He said he wanted Price’s lawyers to submit to him by January 4 “all the relevant authorities and relevant statute indicating why it would be wrong to hold the preliminary enquiry” in the hospital where she is a patient.
