Maze: il DUP risponde alla crescente rabbia unionista

DUP respond to mounting Maze plan anger

Robinson - Brannigan - McGuinnessTHE DUP has mounted a staunch defence of the Maze development, in response to growing unionist anger and fears that the site will become a shrine for the IRA.

Writing in Saturday’s News Letter, Lagan Valley MP Jeffrey Donaldson said his party had secured a new building for the peace centre and emphasised that the DUP were the only party to oppose the listing of the H-blocks.

Earlier this week, an editorial in this month’s Orange Standard warned unionist politicians supporting the Maze ‘peace centre’ that they “do not have the full confidence of the people who elected them”.

On Friday evening, Samuel Morrison a member of the TUV claimed that hundreds of signatures opposing the Maze shrine had been collected in Dromore.

In his letter, Jeffrey Donaldson repeatedly denied the ‘IRA shrine’ claim.

“The DUP will not countenance any development at the Maze site that would glorify terrorism,” he writes.

“There will be no one-sided narrative given and absolutely no eulogising of terrorists or hunger strikers.”

And again: “There will be no IRA shrine at the Maze.”
