House attacked with petrol bombs
Several petrol bombs have been thrown at a house in a sectarian interface area of Londonderry.
The devices were thrown at Christine Monteith’s house in the mainly Protestant Fountain estate around 9.50pm on Thursday.
She was inside with her husband and two sons aged 16 and 11 when it was attacked.
The petrol bombs caused scorch damage to the front of the property and to a side wall.
“I think I was targeted simply for living in an interface. Five unexploded petrol bombs are still sitting on my premises.”
Mrs Monteith has criticised the police response to the incident after she claims they failed to visit the family on Thursday night.
A PSNI spokesman said the “immediate action was to study CCTV footage.”
“Police attended the scene and took the remains of the petrol bombs away for scientific examination.”
“We will also be studying CCTV footage to see if the culprits can be identified. We will be speaking to the family on Friday.”
