Poleglass: punito con sei proiettili nelle gambe

North Belfast man may have been abducted before punishment shooting

Local sources say he was shot six times in his lower legs

A man was shot in a paramilitary style attack last night.

The victim, 56, was shot up to six times in the lower legs according to local reports.

The gun attack happened in the Glenwood area of Poleglass in West Belfast at around 7.45pm.

However local sources have told Belfast Live that the man was abducted in the Ligoniel area of North Belfast before being taken to Poleglass and shot.

The victim is understood to be from the Ardoyne area of Belfast.

Stephen Magennis, a Sinn Féin councillor, said the man had been shot “five or six times in the leg”.

He added: “I’ve said for a long time now regarding punishment attacks that no guns at all should be brought onto the streets.

“The message needs to come loud and clear in the community and hopefully these groups will listen.”

The PSNI said they are investigating an incident in which a 56-year-old man was “shot a number of times in the leg” in the Glenwood Drive area.
