Police injured as crowds riot in Ballycastle
Nineteen arrests have been made after police officers were injured during an outbreak of rioting in Ballycastle in the early hours of Monday.
A large crowd at the Diamond and streets leading onto the Diamond began throwing bottles and other missiles at police shortly before 2am.
Six officers were assaulted or hit with missiles and two sustained injuries which were not said to be serious in the disorder, which lasted around an hour.
Additional police were sent to the area in an attempt to protect traffic and members of the public caught up in the violence.
A total of 19 arrests were made in connection with riotous behaviour or disorderly behaviour. Police say they will have been released pending report or street bailed.
An investigation is being carried out into the incident and police have asked anyone with information to come forward.
