Bonfire clean-ups cost £150,410
The cost of cleaning up bonfires has risen to more than £150,000 a year, Environment Minister Edwin Poots has revealed.
In 2007/8 it cost councils across Northern Ireland £144,5551 to clean up after bonfires, while last year it cost £150,410. Belfast City Council paid £17,485 to clean up bonfire sites while Newry and Mourne gave a £20,000 estimate.
Mr Poots said Dungannon & South Tyrone had spent nothing on cleaning up bonfire sites.
