Third night of trouble across NI

Police came under attack during a second night of sporadic trouble across Northern Ireland on Wednesday night.

A police vehicle and two other vehicles were damaged during the disorder.

Paint bombs and other missiles were also thrown at police, however there are no reports of any injuries.

A 21 year-old man was arrested for riotous behaviour and a juvenile was also arrested for disorderly behaviour.

However, the girl was later released pending reports.

A PSNI spokesperson said officers liased with community representatives to bring calm to the area.

In North Belfast, a petrol bomb was thrown at Tennent Street PSNI station – in the Shankill Road area – but it failed to go off.

There was also an attempted hijacking in the area.

Police also came under attack from petrol bombers on the Springfield Road and the Suffolk Road.

Stones were thrown at police at Eastbridge in East Belfast.

There was also minor trouble in South Belfast, where a bin was set alight on the Cromwell Road.

In Londonderry, petrol bombs were thrown in Brandywell and Gobnascale.

Two cars were damaged during minor trouble in the Mournview park and Canal Key areas of Newry.

Police also said bins were set on fire in Larne.
