Torna graffito pro-IRA a Strabane
IRA graffiti returns in Strabane
The IRA graffiti which caused an online stir after it was repainted to promote a local library has returned on a building in Strabane.
The slogan was daubed on Ballycolman electricity sub-station, but was soon changed to say ‘Join the library’ and an image of the reworking was shared by thousands on Twitter.
The man responsible, or Strabanksy as he has been nicknamed, said he was compelled to change it after spotting an “unnecessary apostrophe”.
The Strabane Chronicle has confirmed that the ‘Join the IRA’ graffiti has returned after it was painted over last week – this time without the redundant punctuation and painted in a way that would make the ‘library’ alteration difficult.
Northern Ireland Electricity, which owns the building, has reiterated its policy to remove all forms of graffiti from sub-stations.
