Il 30 gennaio 2011 si terrà l’ultima marcia commemorativa
Il 15 giugno 2010 la pubblicazione del Rapporto Saville sull’omicidio di 14 persone (13 uccise il 30 gennaio 1972 e una deceduta mesi dopo per le ferite subite) ha segnato la fine di una lunga campagna per la verità e la giustizia voluta dalle famiglie delle vittime della Bloody Sunday.
John Kelly, fratello di Michael, ha detto che la marcia annuale, svolta lungo il percorso della marcia originaria per i diritti civili dai Creggan Shops fino a Guidlhall Square, ha ottenuto “ciò che si prefiggeva di ottenere”.
“Dopo il 15 giugno, la gente ha sentito che la marcia doveva giungere ad una conclusione”, ha riferito a Utv.
Last Bloody Sunday march in Derry
The Bloody Sunday March to take place in Derry at the end of the month will be held as a thank you to supporters, organisers have said.
On 15 June 2010, the publication of the Saville Report into the killing of 13 civilians marked the end of a long-running campaign for truth and justice by the Bloody Sunday families.
John Kelly, brother of Michael, said the annual march, which follows the planned route of the original civil rights march from the Creggan Shops to Guidhall Square, has achieved “what it set out to achieve”.
“After 15 June, people felt the march should come to an end”, he told UTV.
