Trovato piccolo ordigno a West Belfast dopo allarme sicurezza
Small explosive device in Belfast alert
A small explosive device has been found behind a GAA club in west Belfast, a police spokesman has said.
Around 30 homes were evacuated on Monday as the army and police dealt with the device, which was discovered on waste ground at the back of Dwyer’s GAA club on the Grosvenor Road.
Police say the “small hand-held explosive device” could have “killed or seriously injured anyone in close proximity had it exploded.”
The device has now been taken away for further examination.
The road closure on the Grosvenor Road has been lifted and residents evacuated during the alert have been allowed to return to their homes.
The security operation has now ended.
