La polizia scozzese ha rivelato che non ci sono stati arresti alla marcia di sabato, ma adesso è stata avviata un’inchiesta
Le voci sono state confermate: la canzone settaria “Famine Song” è stata intonata lo scorso fine settimana a Glasgow durante la Orange Walk.
Un video pubblicato su Twitter mostra la folla mentre intona la canzone vietata – giudicata razzista dai tribunali nel 2009 – mentre i membri di una banda musicale orangista passava sotto un ponte.
Otto persone sono state fermate per “reati minori”. La marcia orangista ha richiamato nella città più di 8.000 persone.
La polizia ha confermato che nessun arresto è legato a reati di tipo settario.
Tuttavia, ha spiegato un ufficiale, in base alla tolleranza zero contro gli abusi settari verrà eseguita un’indagine.

Il Soprintendente Capo Brian McInulty ha detto: “Le operazioni di polizia di sabato erano principalmente incentrate sulla sicurezza del pubblico presente alle parate.
“La Polizia di Scozia, tuttavia, adotta una politica di tolleranza zero contro qualsiasi forma di abuso settario e indagheremo pienamente qualsiasi incidente sia portato alla nostra attenzione”.

Police revealed there were no sectarian-related arrests made at Saturday’s march but have now launched a probe
FAMINE Song chants at this weekend’s Orange Walk in Glasgow are being probed after footage emerged online.
A video showing crowds singing the banned song – ruled racist by judges in 2009 – as Orange flute band members marched under a bridge in the city on Saturday was posted on Twitter.
Eight people were arrested for “minor offences” at the march as more than 8,000 people descended on the city.
And cops confirmed today that none of the arrests were for sectarian-related offences.
However, a senior officer said they operate a no-tolerance policy to sectarian abuse and would investigate.

Chief superintendent Brian McInulty said: “Saturday’s policing operation primarily focused on the safety of the public at the parades.
“Police Scotland, however, operates a no-tolerance policy when it comes to any form of sectarian abuse and will fully investigate any incident brought to our attention.”
