Irlanda deve pensare a rientrare nel Commonwealth

E’ stato lanciato un documento che chiede alla Repubblica d’Irlanda di ripensare alla sua opposizione al Commonwealth britannico.

Il Reform Group, che descrive i propri membri come “Unionisti irlandesi nella tradizione Redmondita”, ha lanciato a Londra il libretto “Ireland and the Commonwealth: Towards Membership”.

Al suo interno articoli, discorsi e discussioni a sostegno del rientro dell’Irlanda nel Commonwealth, dopo 60 anni d’assenza.

Il Reform Group afferma che la Repubblica dovrebbe, come stato sovrano, coltivare la sua già stretta relazione con le popolazioni dell’Irlanda del Nord, Inghilterra, Scozia e Galles, rientrando nel Commonwealth.

L’ex parlamentare dell’Ulster Unionist Party e direttore dell’Unionist Information Office David Burnside dice: “Questo libretto creato dal Reform Group è un’eccellente e puntuale pubblicazione, con i contributi provenienti da illustri persone che parlano del rientro dell’Irlanda nel Commonwealth”.

Republic is urged to join Commonwealth

A PAMPHLET calling on the Republic to re-think its opposition to joining the British Commonwealth has been launched.

The Reform Group, which describes its members as “Irish unionists in the Redmondite tradition”, launched “Ireland and the Commonwealth: Towards Membership”, in London.

The pamphlet contains a series of articles, speeches and discussions supportive of Ireland’s return to membership of the Commonwealth after a 60-year absence.

The Reform Group argues that the Republic should, as a sovereign state, cultivate its already close relationship with the peoples of Northern Ireland, England, Scotland and Wales by re-joining the Commonwealth.

Former Ulster Unionist MP and director of the Unionist Information Office David Burnside said: “This pamphlet from the Reform Group is an excellent and timely publication with contributions from a number of distinguished individuals arguing the case for Ireland joining the Commonwealth.”
