La polizia di Glasgow sta investigando le denunce di minacce avvenute online contro un giovane della Contea di Londonderry che recentemente è stato preso dai Rangers
Commenti minacciosi e settari sono stati lasciati su un sito Internet “non ufficiale” dei Rangers, dopo che l’ex calciatore di football gaelico ha siglato un contratto biennale.
I commenti sono simili a quelli fatti contro l’allenatore del Celtic, Neil Lennon.
In una discussione si legge: “Non posso aspettare che riceva bombe e proiettili”.
Un altro, scritto da una persona che si fa chiamare “Lisburn Rangers” e mostra un avatar con l’emblema dell’Ulster Defence Association, definisce Papa Benedetto XVI “l’anti Cristo”.
Il Rangers Football Club insiste sul fatto che i commenti sono stati rilasciati su un sito Internet “non ufficiale”, non direttamente collegato con il club.
La polizia di Strathclyde sta gestendo le minacce con estrema serietà.
Una portavoce afferma: “Ogni denuncia di abuso via Internet viene controllato individualmente ed azioni appropriate vengono intraprese dagli agenti”.
In agosto un ventiquattrenne è comparso in tribunale accusato di aver creato un sito Internet in cui erano inseriti messaggi settari contro l’allenatore dei Celtic.
Altri due uomini affronteranno un processo in Scozia, accusati di aver inviato presunti pacchi bomba a Neil Lennon e a due importanti tifosi del club cattolico di Glasgow.

Online sectarian abuse for young Rangers player
Police in Glasgow are investigating allegations of online threats made against a County Londonderry teenager who recently signed for Rangers.
Sectarian and threatening remarks were posted on an “unofficial” Rangers Media website after the former Gaelic footballer signed a two-year deal.
The comments echo online threats made against Celtic manager Neil Lennon.
One post reads: “Can’t wait for him to receive bombs and bullets.”
Another was written by someone calling themselves “Lisburn Rangers” and appeared to display a UDA badge calling Pope Benedict the “anti-christ”.
Rangers Football Club stressed that the comments were posted on an “unofficial” website not directly linked to the club.
Strathclyde Police said they are taking the threats seriously.
A spokeswoman said: “Each allegation of abuse on the internet is looked into individually and action deemed appropriate to the comment is taken by officers.”
Earlier in August, a 24-year-old man appeared in court charged with creating a website where sectarian messages about the Celtic manager were posted.
Two other men are due to face trial in Scotland charged with sending suspected bombs in the post to Neil Lennon and two prominent Celtic fans.
