Gli avvocati dell’uomo accusato di terrorismo in Spagna e Francia hanno scelto una nuova data per proseguire con l’udienza per l’estradizione
Benat Atorrasagasti Ordonez, 36 anni, è stato arrestato a Edinburgo a luglio. È accusato di essere membro dei separatisti baschi dell’ETA.
Si sarebbe trasferito in Scozia oltre 10 anni fa.
La richiesta di estradizione verso la Francia, dove è già stato condannato in contumacia, sarà analizzata per prima.
Le autorità francesi intendono fargli scontare cinque anni di carcere.
Anche la Spagna cerca l’estradizione di Ordonez per il suo presunto ruolo di collaboratore nella fuga dei due uomini che uccisero il politico spagnolo Miguel Angel Blanco.
La Guardia Civil spagnola lo sospetta inoltre di aver aiutato almeno 10 etarra ad attraversare il confine tra Spagna e Francia.
L’udienza preliminare si terrà a Edinburgo il 5 novembre. Quindi Ordonez sarà nuovamente in aula il 3 dicembre per l’udienza sull’estradizione.

New hearing for ‘Eta fugitive’ Benat Atorrasagasti Ordonez
Lawyers acting for a man who is wanted in France and Spain on terrorism charges have agreed a new date to continue his extradition hearing.
Benat Atorrasagasti Ordonez, 36, was arrested in Edinburgh in July. He is accused of being a member of the Basque separatist group Eta.
It is believed he fled to Scotland more than 10 years ago.
His extradition warrant to France, where he has already been convicted in his absence, will be considered first.
The French authorities want him returned to the country so he can serve five years in a prison there.
He is also wanted in Spain over his alleged role in helping two men who killed Spanish politician Miguel Angel Blanco to flee to France in 1997.
The Spanish civil guard also suspect Mr Ordonez of helping at least 10 Eta gunmen cross the border from Spain to France.
A preliminary hearing will take place at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on 5 November. He is then due to appear in court on 3 December for the extradition hearing.
The 36-year-old denies the allegations.
