Piccoli scontri sono avvenuti a North Belfast durante una parata orangista
I sostenitori lealisti hanno gridato insulti ai contestatori.
A parte questo piccolo incidente la parata è passata pacificamente.
Gerry Kelly, parlamentare dello Sinn Fein, afferma: “Adesso la strada è sgombra. C’è stata molta tensione e si è svolta la protesta pacifica come pianificato.
“Mentre le logge e le bande musicali restavano bloccate sulla decisione (della Commissione Parate) c’è stato un gran numero di sostenitori (lealisti) che hanno iniziato a gridare insulti ai contestatori ma siamo andati oltre, perché era stato molto peggio in passato”.
Gli orangistihanno riferito di aver trovato una “soluzione pacifica” riguardo alla disputa sul percorso di rientro di fronte agli Ardoyne Shops.
Un incontro si è svolto ieri sera per discutere la situazione, con l’Orange Order che ha confermato che la soluzione trovata “garantisce” una parata di rientro per le logge di Ligoniel.
Un breve comunicato per conto dell’Orange Order e del North and West Belfast Parades and Cultural Forum afferma che non verranno forniti ulteriori dettagli sulla soluzione trovata fino a giovedì, quando le logge si ritroveranno sul percorso.
Nel frattempo un funzionario di polizia ha riferito a UTV che la PSNI farà rispettare la decisione della Commissione Parate secondo cui gli orangisti dovranno transitare dall’area entro le 16.
Per il poliziotto gli agenti impegnati a North Belfast “agiranno come pacificatori”. La zona negli ultimi anni è stata teatro di prolungati scontri.
Il GARC (Greater Ardoyne Residents Coalition) potrà svolgere la propria manifestazione di protesta alle 17:30, dopo la parata di rientro dell’Orange Order, mentre anche i residenti unionisti di Twaddell Avenue hanno chiesto di poter tenere una contro protesta nel medesimo istante.
Mercoledì sera un centinaio di lealisti di Twaddell Avenue hanno inscenato una protesta. I nazionalisti si sono radunati di fronte ai negozi di Ardoyne durante il passaggio del gruppo, che è avvenuto senza problemi.

Minor trouble at Ardoyne parade
There has been minor trouble during a Twelfth of July parade in north Belfast.
Loyalist supporters also shouted at the protestors.
However the event was largely peaceful.
Sinn Fein MLA Gerry Kelly said: “The road is now cleared. It was very tense and there was a peaceful protest as planned.
“While the lodges and the bands stuck to their (Parades Commission) determination, there was a substantial number of supporters who started shouting abuse at the protesters and it got a bit hairy but we are through it, it has been a lot worse in the past.”
It comes after Orangemen said a “peaceful solution” has been reached to the dispute surrounding the return leg of their march past the Ardoyne shopfronts.
A meeting was held on Wednesday evening to discuss the situation, with the Order later confirming their solution would “guarantee” a return parade for the Ligoniel lodges affected.
A short statement on behalf of the Order and the North and West Belfast Parades Forum said that no further details will be released until Thursday, when the lodges meet in the field.
Meanwhile a senior police commander has already told UTV that the PSNI will enforce the Parades Commission’s ruling that marchers must pass the area by 4pm.
He said that the police would be on the ground in north Belfast on Thursday to “act as peace-keepers”. It has been the scene of rioting in recent years.
A nationalist residents’ group, the Greater Ardoyne Residents’ Collective (GARC), has been allowed to stage a protest at 5.30pm after the return parade by the Order, while unionist Twaddell residents have filed for their own counter-protest to be held at the same time.
On Wednesday evening, a protest was held by more than 100 unionist residents at Twaddell Avenue.
Nationalist residents gathered at the shopfronts during the demonstration, which passed off peacefully.
