La polizia ha eseguito 14 arresti al funerale del repubblicano Michael Barr.
L’uomo, originario della Contea di Tyrone, era stato ucciso ad aprile all’interno del pub Sunset House a Dublino.
Michael Barr, membro della New IRA, era stato colpito da diversi proiettili, di cui uno alla testa.
Il funerale ha avuto luogo oggi nella sua città natale di Strabane. A guidare il corteo funebre numerosi uomini vestiti in abiti paramilitari.
Un portavoce della PSNI ha affermato: “Come risultato dell’operazione di polizia compiuta al funerale di Michael Barr a Strabane, 14 uomini sono stati arrestati in base alla Legge Anti Terrorismo (Terrorism Act)“.
Michael Barr era sospettato di aver fornito le armi necessarie alla sparatoria avvenuta a febbraio all’interno del Regent Hotel di Dublino, che ha provocato la morte di un uomo e infiammato la faida tra le bande criminali Hutch e Kinahan.
Da allora sei persone sono state assassinate e la tensione a Dublino si è innalzata.

Police have made 14 arrests at the funeral of murdered dissident republican Michael Barr.
The 35-year-old, originally from Co Tyrone, was gunned down in the Sunset House pub in Dublin last month.
The victim, who was linked to the New IRA, was blasted several times including once in the head.
His funeral is taking place in his native Strabane today. Several men were pictured in paramilitary clothing leading the procession.
A PSNI spokesman said: “As a result of the policing operation at the funeral of Michael Barr in Strabane earlier today, 14 males have been arrested under the Terrorism Act.”
Barr was suspected of supplying weapons used in shootings at the Regency Hotel in Dublin in February, which left one man dead and sparked a bloody feud between the Hutch and Kinahan drug gangs on the streets of Dublin.
Since that initial bloody incident, six people have been killed as tensions escalated.
