26 fermi per disordini a Derry

La polizia ha fermato 26 persone per i disordini scoppiati dopo la parata degli Apprentice Boys a Derry

Due poliziotti sono rimasti feriti e oggetti di vario tipo sono stati lanciati nella zona di Butchers Gate, Magazine Street, Fahan Street e Memorial Hall.

Una grande quantità di alcol è stata sequestrata durante la giornata dagli agenti.

Prima della parata, un ufficiale di alto grado aveva avvertito della possibile esplosione di disordini.

I repubblicani hanno tenuto un presidio anti internamento nel vicino Bogside, nonostante la richiesta dello Sinn Fein di spostare tale evento.

Più di 10.000 Apprentice Boys e oltre 100 bande musicali hanno attraversato le mura cittadine come parte del 320° anniversario del Relief of Derry (la liberazione della città dall’assedio delle forze fedeli a Giacomo II).

La parata segna il culmine del Maiden City Festival di quest’anno.

26 arrested over Derry trouble

POLICE arrested 26 people after trouble flared following the Apprentice Boys parade in Londonderry.

Two PSNI officers were injured and missiles were thrown after trouble flared at Butchers Gate, Magazine street, Fahan Street and Memorial Hall.

A substantial amount of alcohol was also seized throughout the day by officers.

Prior to the parade, a senior police officer had warned of potential trouble.

Republicans held an anti-internment rally in the nearby Bogside despite calls from Sinn Fein for the event to be re-scheduled.

Over 10,000 Apprentice Boys and over 100 bands marched the city’s walls as is traditional as part of the 320th anniversary of the Relief of Londonderry.

The parade marked the culmination of this year’s Maiden City Festival.
