Il 32 County Sovereignty Movement vuole condannare gli oltraggiosi attacchi settari che si sono verificati a Short Strand nelle notti passate. E’ evidente che questi attacchi, orchestrati da paramilitari lealisti, sono progettati per cercare di ristabilire un certo prestigio alle loro organizzazioni, che non sono altro che facciate per la criminalità. E’ anche evidente è che questo è stato facilitato dalla RUC/PSNI, che hanno permesso la realizzazione degli attacchi. Questo dovrebbe essere giustapposto alla loro risposta ai manifestanti repubblicani di Ardoyne.
Durante il 12 luglio dello scorso anno (la polizia) non esitò a sparare proiettili di plastica e utilizzare cannoni ad acqua; sembra invece che quando i responsabili sono lealisti allora hanno carta bianca. Il fatto che i colpi siano stati sparati verso la chiesa di San Matteo dai lealisti dovrebbe fungere da campanello d’allarme per tutti i repubblicani ancora convinti che questa è una nuova forza di polizia imparziale. Non hanno fatto nulla per proteggere la comunità di Short Strand, proprio come non fece nulla la RUC quando i residenti furono attaccati negli ultimi anni. Salutiamo tutti coloro che hanno difeso la loro comunità e sollecitiamo tutti i repubblicani, sia a Belfast che altrove, a stare dalla parte dei residenti nel momento del bisogno.

Short Strand Attacks
The 32 County Sovereignty Movement wishes to condemn the outrageous sectarian attacks that have occurred on the Short Strand in the past number of nights. It is blantantly obvious that these attacks, which have been orchestrated by Loyalist paramilitaries are designed to try and restore some prestige to their organisations which are no more than fronts for criminality. What is also obvious is that this has been facilitated by the RUC/PSNI who allowed the attacks to take place. This should be juxtaposed against their response to Republican protestors in Ardoyne.
During the 12th of July last year they had no hesitation in deploying plastic bullets and water cannons, it would appear that when the perpetrators are loyalists they have a free hand. The fact that shots were fired into the grounds of St Mathhew’s church by Loyalist mobs should act as a wake up call for any republicans still convinced that this is a new impartial police force. They have done nothing to protect the community of the Short Strand, just as the RUC did nothing when the residents came under attack in recent years. We salute all those who defended their community and urge all republicans both in Belfast and farther afield to stand by the residents during their hour of need.
