“Alcune parate non si faranno” dicono gli shinner

L’Orange Order dovrà accettare che alcune parate non saranno effettuate, dice uno shinner

John O’Down, uno dei rappresentanti dello Sinn Fein nel nuovo gruppo di lavoro sulle parate – che ha iniziato il suo lavoro martedì – accetta che ci saranno compromessi dei repubblicani.

Ma avverte che anche gli ordini lealisti dovrenno scendere a patti: “Ciò che abbiamo approvato è una rinnovata attenzione da parte di tutti per facilitare una soluzione – le chiavi saranno dialogo e persuasione.

“Ma in alcuni casi la realtà è che la soluzione ad alcune dispute sulle parate sarà di non far svolgere la parata stessa”.

Nel frattempo, Nelson McCausland del DUP, anch’egli nel gruppo di lavoro, spinge gli unionisti e specialmente i membri degli ordini lealisti a rispondere positivamente ai tentativi del gruppo di sostituire la Commissione Parate con qualcosa di mogliore.

“Quest’opportunità è stata molto combattuta e perciò non deve essere sprecata”; ha affermato.

Comunque lo SDLP e l’UUP hanno accusato il DUP e lo Sinn Fein di “spartizione”, per averli esclusi dal gruppo di lavoro sulle parate.

Un importante membro orangista ha riferito che mentre non aveva mai accettato la legittimazione della Commissione Parate, se firma un nuovo sistema di aggiudicazione delle parate avrebbe dovuto accettare le decisioni della giuria – anche se non fosse d’accordo con loro.

SF in ‘no parade’ warning to Order

THE Orange Order will have to accept that some of its parades will not take place, a republican has said.

John O’Dowd, one of the Sinn Fein representatives on the new parades working group — which began its work on Tuesday — accepts that there will be compromise by republicans.

But he warns that the Loyal Orders will also have to make compromises: “What we have agreed is a renewed focus by everyone to facilitate resolution – the key in this will be dialogue and persuasion.

“But in some cases the reality is that a resolution to a particular parading dispute will be no parade.”

Meanwhile, the DUP’s Nelson McCausland, who also sits on the group, urged unionists and especially members of the Loyal Orders to respond positively to the group’s attempts to replace the Parades Commission with something better.

“This opportunity was hard-fought-for and it must not be squandered,” he says.

However, the SDLP and UUP accused the DUP and Sinn Fein of a “carve-up” for excluding them from the parades working group.

A senior Orange source said that while it had never accepted the Parades Commission’s legitimacy, if it does sign up to a new parades adjudication system it would have to accept that panel’s decisions — even if it did not agree with them.
