In tribunale è stato comunicato che tre testimoni si presentaranno all’udienza nella quale verrà deciso se la prominente repubblicana Marian Price, segretaria del 32 County Sovereignty Movement, dovrà affrontare il processo per l’accusa collegata agli omicidi di due soldati britannici.
Uno dei testimoni giungerà dall’Inghilterra per partecipare all’inchiesta preliminare, che si svolgerà il prossimo gennaio.
Ma al giudice è stato spiegato che il procedimento potrebbe essere inutile se Marian Price riuscirà a prevalere nella causa che sta intentando per abuso da parte del governo.
Marian Price è stata accusata per aver fornito un telefono cellulare per scopi terroristici.
L’accusa è legata all’attacco contro i soldati britannici a Masserenne Barracks, Antrim, del marzo 2009, quando rimasero uccisi i genieri Patrick Azimkar e Mark Quinsey.
I due soldati erano usciti dai cancelli della caserma per ritirare delle pizze. Due repubblicani, Colin Duffy e Brian Shivers, sono accusati di aver partecipato all’attacco e sono in attesa di essere processati.
Marian Price cercherà di utilizzare la grazia ricevuta 30 anni fa per chiudere il caso.
Hearing will rule if republican Marian Price to be tried
Three witnesses have been lined up to give evidence at a hearing to decide if veteran republican Marian Price should stand trial on a charge linked to the murders of two British soldiers, a court has heard.
One of them is due to travel from England for the preliminary inquiry, which is listed to take place in January.
But a judge was told the committal proceedings will be unnecessary if Price succeeds first with an abuse of process application she is planning.
The 57-year-old, also known by her married name of Marian McGlinchey, has been charged with providing property, namely a mobile phone, for the purposes of terrorism.
The allegation is related to the shooting of Sappers Patrick Azimkar and Mark Quinsey at Massereene barracks in Antrim in March 2009.
The soldiers were gunned down outside their base as they collected a pizza delivery. Two men are awaiting trial accused of their murders.
Price is expected to try to use a pardon she received 30 years ago to have the case against her dismissed.
