Gli artificieri dell’esercito britannico hanno compiuto un’esplosione controllate ai danni di un oggetto sospetto trovato all’incrocio di Lisburn Road con Cadogan Park.
L’allarme è stato lanciato alle 21:20 e la strada è stata riaperta poco dopo mezzanotte.
Per la polizia l’oggetto, che avrebbe avuto cavi e batterie, era stato realizzato appositamente per sembrare una bomba.
Alcuni appartamenti sono stati evacuati durante l’allarme bomba, così come pub e altri esercizi.
Conall McDevitt, parlamentare SDLP per South Belfast, ha parlato di grave disagio.
“A prescindere da cosa sia questo dispositivo, il fatto è che chi vuole causare questo scempio sarà respinto dalle popolazioni locali, che qui godono di un buon rapporto con il servizio di polizia locale”.

Belfast device a ‘deliberate hoax’
British army bomb experts carried out a controlled explosion on a suspicious object found at the junction of the Lisburn Road and Cadogan Park.
The alert happened at around 9.20pm and the road was re-opened shortly after midnight.
Police say the object, which is believed to have contained wires and batteries, was made to look like a device.
A number of nearby apartments had to be evacuated during the alert, as well as pubs and cafes.
SDLP South Belfast Assembly member Conall McDevitt said serious disruption was caused.
‘Irrespective of what way this device turns out, the fact is that those who set out to cause this havoc will be rejected by the local people here who enjoy a good relationship with the local police service.’
