A New York incontro sul trasferimento dei poteri

Oggi Robinson e McGuinness si incontreranno nuovamente a New York con Gordon Brown

Proseguiranno i colloqui con il primo ministro britannico sul trasferimento dei poteri di giustizia e sicurezza.

Martin McGuinness ha detto che il trasferimento deve essere completato il più presto possibile, e l’argomento è strettamente collegato agli investimenti americani in Irlanda del Nord.

McGuinness e Robinson parteciperanno ad una conferenza economica a New York.

Sarà presente anche l’ex presidente americano Bill Clinton.

Il primo ministro ed il suo vice hanno incontrato Gordon Brown a Londra, lunedì, incentrando il colloquio sul trasferimento dei poteri.

Martedì McGuinness ha parlato di “un progresso molto significativo”.

Secondo il vice primo ministro un accordo è vicino.

Comunque, Robinson ha parlato di “alcune questioni importanti rimaste in sospeso” e che andranno discusse nell’incontro di oggi.

“Sebbene mi recherò a New York mercoledì mattina, ho chiarito che queste discussioni finanziarie non saranno concluse negli Stati Uniti”, riferiva Robinson.

Nel frattempo l’Assemblea nordirlandese ha approvato la seconda parte del Justice Bill martedì sera.

Dopo un dibattito durato oltre 8 ore, il DUP, lo Sinn Fein e l’Alliance Party hanno votato a favore del provvedimento.

L’Ulster Unionist Party e lo SDLP non sono soddisfatti di alcune parti della legge e quindi hanno votato contro la proposta.

Policing talks to be held in US

The first and deputy first ministers will meet again with Prime Minister Gordon Brown in New York on Wednesday.

They will be continuing their talks on the devolution of policing and justice powers.

Martin McGuinness has said the transfer of the powers must be completed as soon as possible, and the issue is closely linked to American investment in NI.

Mr McGuinness and Peter Robinson will be attending an economic conference while in New York.

It will be convened by former president Bill Clinton.

The first and deputy first minister talked with Prime Minister Brown in London on Monday over policing and justice.

On Tuesday, Mr McGuinness said “very significant progress” had been made.

He said a deal on the issue was close and it was “crunch time”.

However, Mr Robinson said “a number of big-ticket issues remain outstanding” which the prime minister said would be discussed on Wednesday.

“Whilst I will be travelling to New York on Wednesday, I have made it clear that these financial discussions will not be concluded in the States,” Mr Robinson said.

Meanwhile, the Northern Ireland Assembly passed the second stage of the Justice Bill on Tuesday night.

After a debate lasting more than eight hours the DUP, Sinn Fein and Alliance voted the bill through.

The Ulster Unionists and the SDLP are not happy with parts of the legislation and voted against the bill.
