Una donna poliziotto è al momento indagata perché avrebbe passato informazioni ai lealisti.
Il comandante della polizia ha chiesto al Police Ombudsman di investigare le azioni di una agente della PSNI, accusata di aver rivelato informazioni attraverso i social network che potrebbero influenzare le sorti di procedimenti legali.
La poliziotta di stanza a Est Belfast al momento è sospesa dal servizio mentre si svolgono le indagini.
Tra le persone cui l’agente avrebbe fornito informazioni coperte da segreto c’era il leader lealista Jamie Bryson.
Si ritiene che la donna avesse usato differenti profili falsi per contattare numerose persone.
In un primo momento l’agente si sarebbe comportata in maniera abusiva, scrivendo articoli e commenti online nel tentativo di provocare persone provenienti principalmente dall’ambiente lealista.
Tuttavia, dopo essere stata richiamata internamente per un’altra questione, è sospettata di aver fornito informazioni privilegiate sui casi.
Jamie Bryson, 25 anni, è stato condannato a marzo per aver partecipato a quattro parate non notificate durante la dispute sulle bandiere. Dovrà fornire testimonianza davanti al Police Ombudsman sulle azioni dell’agente PSNI, ma ha già affermato che non collaborerà.
“Ho poca o nessuna fiducia in qualsiasi agente di polizia, anche di chi dice di essere antagonista rispetto ai suoi superiori, quindi avevo già messo a conoscenza del mio team di avvocati di questo bizzarro sviluppo dell’epoca” ha affermato.
“È mia intenzione chiamare questa poliziotta, che fu una volta l’ufficiale di alto livello nel mio caso, come testimone della difesa durante il mio appello”.
E ha aggiunto: “Non ho alcun interesse né alcuna intenzione di aiutare questo processo fornendo assistenza nelle indagini contro questo ufficiale”.
La PSNI ha detto di non poter commentare la questione.
Un portavoce per il Police Ombudsman ha dichiarato: “L’ufficio del Police Ombudsman può confermare che la PSNI ci ha chiesto di indagare le questioni legate all’uso dei social media da parte di uno dei suoi ufficiali”.

Female officer suspended in collusion probe
A police officer is being investigated for allegedly passing information to loyalists.
The Chief Constable has asked the Police Ombudsman to investigate the actions of a female police officer who is accused of revealing information via social networking which could influence the outcome of criminal proceedings.
The officer based in east Belfast is currently suspended from her post while the investigation takes place.
Among the people that the female constable is alleged to have leaked classified information to was leading loyalist Jamie Bryson.
It is alleged that using a series of fake profiles on social media the officer made contact with a number of people including the Co Down loyalist.
It is alleged that at first the officer behaved in an abusive way ‘trolling’ targets who were mainly from a loyalist background.
However, after the officer was internally reprimanded for another matter, she is alleged to have responded by revealing privileged case information.
Bryson (25), who was convicted in March of four counts of taking part in unnotified processions during the flags dispute, has been called to give evidence to the Ombudsman about the actions of the officer but has said he will not cooperate with the policing watchdog.
“I have little or no trust in any police officer, even one who claims to be antagonistic towards her superiors, so I quite properly made my legal team aware of this bizarre development at the time”, he said.
“It is my intention to call this officer, who was once a senior office in my case, as a defence witness during my appeal.”
And he added: “I’ve no interest nor any intention of helping that process by assisting in the investigation against this officer.”
The PSNI said they could not comment as the matter is now in the hands of the PONI.
A spokesman for the ombudsman said: “The Police Ombudsman’s Office can confirm that the PSNI has asked us to investigate matters related to the use of social media by one of its officers.”
