Il bonfire di Ballybeen è stato dato alle fiamme con due settimane di anticipo
Il bonfire eretto a Ballybeen è stato incendiato domenica sera, dopo l’aumento della tesnione a East Belfast.
L’incendio è iniziato intorno alle 21 e la struttra è stata rasa al suolo 13 giorni prima della sera dell’11 luglio, quando i lealisti festeggiano l’arrivo delle navi di Guglielmo d’Orange sulle spiagge di Carrickfergus.
Molto altri bonfire (falò, Ndt) sono stati dati alle fiamme prima del tempo e le immagini dei presunti autori degli incendi sono state pubblicate sui social network.
L’ultimo incendio è avvenuto, appunto, nel quartiere lealista di Ballybeen, a Dundonald, a poca distanza dagli edifici del parlamento di Stormont.
Una fonte ha riferito: “Vi è un rischio per tutti i soggetti coinvolti. Spesso questi falò non sono strutturalmente idonei a bruciare. Sono costruiti settimane prima del 12 luglio e poi i giovani tendono a proteggerli.
“Ma nei giorni scorsi alcuni di queste cataste sono state date alle fiamme da elementi esterni alla comunità lealista.
“Queste persone stanno mettendo la loro incolumità a repentaglio, recandosi in queste aree con l’intento di bruciare i bonfire anticipatamente. Ho paura a pensare cosa gli sarebbe successo se fossero stati catturati.
“C’è bisogno di un maggiore livello di tolleranza da parte di tutti, così da poter vivere e lasciar vivere”.

Ballybeen’s bonfire has been burned to the ground
Ballybeen’s bonfire has been set on fire on Sunday night amid tensions in east Belfast.
The blaze started shortly after 9pm and the structure was raised the ground 13 days before the 11th night deadline.
Several bonfire have been set alight early and names and images of people alleged to have carried out the arson attack have been circulating on social media.
The latest is in the fiercely loyalist Ballybeen estate in Dundonald, close the Parliament buildings, Stormont.
A source said: “There is a risk for everyone involved. Often these bonfires are not structurally sound to start with. They are built weeks in advance of the 12th of July and then young people tend to guard them.
“But in recent days a number have been set on fire by elements from outside the loyalist community.
“These people are risking their wellbeing by making that journey into these areas with this intention. I dread to think what would happen to them if they were caught.
“There needs to be a greater level of tolerance from everyone so we can live and let live.”
