Anche i POW della Continuity IRA terminano la protesta a Maghaberry

Dichiarazione dei POWs della Continuity IRA, Roe 3, domenica 25 novembre 2012

Dopo un lungo periodo di consultazioni, è stato deciso che noi, i POWs della Continuity IRA, concluderemo la nostra attuale fase di protesta da lunedì 26 novembre 2012, in modo da dare alle autorità carcerarie un’altra opportunità di riconoscere e applicare i termini dell’accordo siglato da tutte le parti nell’agosto 2010.

In qualità di Repubblicani, stringemmo l’accordo in buona fede e decisi ad onorarlo e, come Repubblicani, abbiamo sempre mantenuto la nostra parola. Dopo sei mesi, fu sempre più chiaro che, come da tradizione della Perfida Albione, il Governo britannico avesse rinnegato la sua parola di mettere in pratica quella soluzione, e così ricominciammo la protesta.

Adesso, dopo 18 mesi di questa seconda fase di protesta, crediamo di aver mostrato alle autorità carcerarie la nostra risolutezza e determinazione ad opporci alle condizioni inappropriate a cui sono sottoposti i Prigionieri di Guerra Repubblicani. Crediamo anche di poterci permettere di concedere loro l’opportunità, a questo punto, di mettere in pratica l’accordo.

Speriamo che con questo magnanimo gesto adesso le autorità carcerarie manterranno la parola data. Da Repubblicani, non ci sottrarremo alla nostra responsabilità, e siamo convinti che per noi sia ora necessario assumere il controllo della situazione per portare l’accordo ad una conclusione.

Come i nostri Compagni di Roe 4, riteniamo che la responsabilità di risolvere questo conflitto ricada completamente su David Ford e sul Governo britannico, nonostante Ford dichiari il contrario.

Se il Governo britannico fallirà nell’applicare i termini dell’Accordo di agosto 2010, il conflitto in carcere si riaprirà.

A tutti coloro che ci hanno sostenuti fino a questo punto chiediamo di continuare a farlo. Onoriamo tutti coloro che da ogni parte del mondo hanno lavorato per noi. Ringraziamo le nostre famiglie, i nostri amici e CABHAIR che ci hanno dato supporto ed aiuto incrollabili.

Statement from Continuity IRA POWs, Roe 3, Maghaberry jail, Co Antrim.

After a long period of deliberation, it has been decided that we the Continuity Irish Republican Army POWs will suspend our current phase of protest from Monday November 26, 2012 in order to give the prison regime another opportunity to acknowledge and implement the agreement all parties signed up to in August 2010.

As Republicans we undertook the agreement in good faith and committed to honour it, and as Republicans, at no time did we break our word. After a period of six months it became increasingly clear that in the tradition of Perfidious Albion the British Government had reneged on their word to implement that solution and so we resumed our protest.

Now after 18 months of this second phase of protest, we believe that we have shown the prison regime our resolve and determination to oppose conditions not befitting Republican Prisoners of War. We also believe we can afford them the opportunity at this juncture to implement the agreement.

It is our hope that with this magnanimous gesture the prison regime will now honour their word. As Republicans we will not shirk our responsibility and we believe that it is now necessary for us to take this lead in bringing the agreement to its conclusion.

Like our Comrades on Roe 4, we assert that the resolving of this conflict lies squarely at the feet of David Ford and the British Government, despite Ford’s assertion to the contrary.

Failure on the part of the British Government to implement the August 2010 Agreement in full, will result in a reemergence of conflict in the Jail.

To all who have supported us up to this point, we ask for your continued support. We salute all people across the world who have worked on our behalf. We thank our families and our friends and CABHAIR who have given us unswerving support and assistance.
