Ancora al buio il memoriale di Omagh

Omagh bomb memorial ‘has never worked’

Memoriale di OmaghQUESTIONS have once again been asked over the functionality of the Omagh bomb memorial ‘Garden of Light’ installation.

The memorial project which had an original budget of £240,000, has cost more than £417,000 to date, with local elected representatives and families of the bereaved claiming that it has never worked.

Opened on the tenth anniversary of the Omagh bomb atrocity in August 2008, the light memorial was designed to reflect sunlight from the Drumragh Avenue memorial garden onto a glass obelisk on Market Street.

However SDLP councillor Seamus Shield said, “That was the theory of it, but a lot of people seem to think it has never actually worked too well.”
