Il presidente dell’Orange Hall Committee di Crumlin ha descritto un attacco con le bombe di vernice, avvenuto il 13 luglio, come “disgustoso”.
“E’ molto deludente che questo accada dopo un periodo così tranquillo”, ha detto. “Abbiamo speso 400 sterline per dipingere la Hall e prepararla per il 12 luglio dopo che era già stata sporcata di vernice in precedenza.
“Ora dobbiamo spendere più soldi per risolvere questo problema. E’ deludente e noioso a dir poco”.
La polizia ritiene che l’attacco sia avvenuto tra le 23 di lunedì e le 10 di martedì.
Il parlamentare lcoale dello SDLP Thomas Burns ha detto che l’incidente ha solo causato dolore e disagio e bolla l’attacco come “inutile”.
“Questo atto vandalico senza dubbio è stato fatto in sostegno ai rivoltosi di Ardoyne ed è in ugual modo inutile” ha affermato.
“Né i rivoltosi, né chi lancia vernice possono ottenere nulla di positivo per le comunità che dicono di rappresentare. Possono solo fare del male e distruggere. Provocano dolore, disagio e spese inutili per i contribuenti.
“La nostra comunità vuole vivere in pace, vuole trovare una soluzione pacifica alla questione delle parate e ad ogni altra questione.
“Non ci siamo ancora del tutto arrivati, ma è lì che stiamo andando tutti, e teppisti e vandali non ci fermeranno”.
Il consigliere dell’Alliance Party, Alan Lawther, ha dichiarato: “Questo è stato un attacco nauseante contro una risorsa della comunità. Attacchi di questo genere possono far male a tutta la comunità e aumentare le tensioni.
“Abbiamo bisogno di vedere persone che agiscono responsabilmente per ottenere un futuro migliore.
“Io non riesco a capire quello che la gente spera di ottenere compiendo atti di questa natura. Coloro che vogliono causare instabilità non devono avere successo e gli incidenti come questo dovrebbero intensificare gli sforzi delle persone per garantire buone relazioni comunitarie .
“Coloro che sono coinvolti in incidenti di questo tipo devono essere portati davanti alla giustizia e mi appello a chiunque abbia informazioni a contattare immediatamente la polizia”.
Vandals paintball Crumlin Orange Hall for the second time
THE CHAIRPERSON of the Orange Hall Committee in Crumlin has described a paintbomb attack of the hall on July 13 as ‘sickening’.
“It is very disappointing that this should happen after a time when it has been so quiet,” he said. “We spent £400 painting the hall and getting it ready for the Twelfth after it was paintbombed before.
“Now we have to spend more money to fix this. It is disappointing and annoying to say the least.”
Police believe the attack happened sometime between 11pm on Monday and 10am on Tuesday.
Local SDLP MLA Thomas Burns said the incident just caused pain and hardship and branded the attack ‘pointless.’
“This vandalism is no doubt done in sympathy with the rioters in Ardoyne and it was equally pointless,” he said.
“Neither the rioters nor the paintbombers can achieve anything positive for the communities they claim to represent. They can only do harm and destroy. They cause pain and hardship and unnecessary expense to taxpayers and ratepayers.
“Our whole community wants to live in peace, wants to find peaceful resolution to the parading issue and every other issue.
“We haven’t quite got there yet, but that’s where we are all going, and we are not going to be stopped by thugs and vandals.”
Antrim Alliance Councillor Alan Lawther said: “This was a sickening attack on a community resource. Attacks of this nature can hurt the whole community and raise tensions.
“We need to see people acting responsibly as we move forward to a better future.
“I simply cannot understand what people hope to achieve be carrying out acts of this nature. Those who want to cause instability must not succeed and incidents like this should strengthen people’s efforts to ensure good community relations.
“Those who get involved in incidents of this nature must be brought to justice and I would appeal to anyone with information to contact police immediately.”
