Anziani protestanti obiettivo di attacco settario

Una coppia di anziani protestanti sono rimasti terrorizzati da quello che la polizia ha definito un attacco settario contro la loro abitazione di North Belfast

Domenica sera alcuni giovani hanno infranto i vetri della loro automobile, parcheggiata all’esterno della loro abitazione situata in Workman Avenue nella zona di Shankill Road.

Si ritiene che i giovani provenissero dall’area nazionalista di Springfield Road. Erano giunti in Workman Avenue attraverso il cancello della peaceline.

L’assistente comunitario Gerald Solinas ha condannato l’attacco.

“Ho ricevuto alcune telefonate da parte di residenti secondo cui un gruppo di persone vestite di nero, con felpe nere con cappuccio, hanno attraversato il cancello in Workman Avenue e hanno attaccato le abitazioni, ma specialmente la vettura all’esterno del civico 6”, ha affermato.

“Hanno lanciato bottiglie contro i finestrini anteriori e quando l’anziano proprietario è uscito da casa, hanno iniziato a schernirlo chiamandolo con nomi settari”.

Elderly couple targeted in sectarian attack

An elderly protestant couple have been left terrified after what police are describing as a sectarian attack at their home in north Belfast.

On Sunday night a number of youths smashed several windows of their car outside their house in Workman Avenue on the Shankhill Road.

It is understood the youths came from the nationalist side of the Springfield Road through the gate at the peace line and into the area.

Local community worker Gerald Solinas has condemned the attack.

“I got a phone call from a number of residents to say a group of individuals dressed in black and black hooded tops had come through the gate in Workman Avenue and attacked the houses especially the car outside number six,” he said.

“They put bottles through both passenger windows, the elderly gentleman came out of his house were they began to taunt him calling him sectarian names.”
