“La scoperta di un nascondiglio di armi in Bond Street è un preoccupante sviluppo, considerato che le principali formazioni paramilitari unioniste hanno dichiarato di aver messo fuori uso tutte le loro armi.
“Questo fa sorgere la domanda se quest’arma e le munizioni sono state abbandonate o se appartengono a Ulster Resistance, che non ha collaborato con la Commissione Internazionale Indipendente per la Decommissioning.
“Il DUP non può continuare a sottrarsi alle proprie responsabilità sull’Ulster Resistance. Il DUP ha avuto un ruolo strumentale nella formazione dell’Ulster Resistance e ora deve farsi avanti e dirci quando saranno messe fuori uso le armi del gruppo paramilitare.
“Chiedo anche alla PSNI di ricostruire la storia dell’arma e appurare se fa parte di quelle importate dall’agente britannico Brian Nelson”.

Councillor Fleming said,
“The uncovering of an arms cache in Bonds Street is a worrying development given that the main Unionist paramilitaries have declared that they decommissioned all their weapons.
“This begs the question whether this weapon and ammunition was abandoned or that it belongs to Ulster Resistance who failed to engage with the International Independent Commission on Decommission.
“The DUP cannot continue to shirk their responsibility in terms of Ulster Resistance. The DUP who were instrumental in the formation of Ulster Resistance must now come forward and tell us when the weapons belonging to Ulster Resistance will be decommissioned.
“I am also calling on the PSNI to make the history of this weapon known and whether it was one of those imported by British agent Brian Nelson.”
