Arresto ad Antrim per omicidio di Bobby Moffett

Un uomo è stato arrestato dalla polizia nel corso delle indagini sull’omicidio del lealista Bobby Moffett, avvenuto a Belfast lo scorso anno

Moffett, 43 anni, ex prigioniero lealista, fu colpito a morte in pieno giorno il 28 maggio a Shankill Road, nella zona ovest della città, da due uomini a volto coperto.

L’Independent Monitoring Commission disse che l’omicidio fu deciso dai leader dell’Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF).

Nessuno è ancora stato accusato dell’omicidio, sebbene ci siano già stati in precedenza alcuni arresti.

Dopo l’omicidio ci sono state numerose richieste a UVF di sciogliere il gruppo paramilitare, compresa quella dell’uomo che ha fondato l’attuale gruppo, Gusty Spence.

Centinaia di persone nella zona di Shankill parteciparono alla veglia per ricordare Bobby Moffett, pochi giorni dopo il suo omicidio.

Bobby Moffett murder: man arrested in Antrim

A man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of loyalist Bobby Moffett in Belfast last year.

Mr Moffett, 43, a former loyalist prisoner, was shot dead on the Shankill Road, in the west of the city, by two masked gunmen on 28 May.

The Independent Monitoring Commission said the murder was sanctioned by Ulster Volunteer Force (UVF) leaders.

No-one has been charged with the murder to date, although there have been a number of previous arrests.

There were calls for the UVF to disband after the murder, including from the man who founded its modern incarnation, Gusty Spence.

Hundreds of people attended a vigil for Mr Moffett in the Shankill area days after his murder.
