La polizia della Repubblica d’Irlanda ha arrestato un uomo di 70 anni in collegamento con l’omicidio dell’ex funzionario dello Sinn Fein avvenuto nel 2006
L’uomo è attualmente trattanuto nella stazione della Garda di Letterkenny, nella Contea di Donegal.
E’ arrestato in base alla Sezione 30 dell’Offences Against The State Act (Legge sui Reati Contro lo Stato).
L’ex funzionario dello Sinn Féin di West Belfast fu colpito a morte in un cottage isolato nel Donagal il 4 aprile 2006. Pochi mesi prima, Donaldson ammise pubblicamente di aver lavorato come informatore interno al movimento repubblicano per un certo numero di anni.
La scorsa settimana, la famiglia Donaldson ha chiesto a Garda e Police Service of Northern Ireland di fare di più per portare gli assassini davanti ai tribunali.
In un comunicato rilasciato attraverso i loro avvocati, hanno affermato che le agenzie di sicurezza britanniche avrebbero avuto un ruolo nella sua morte.

Man held over murder of IRA informer Denis Donaldson
Police in the Irish Republic have arrested a 70-year-old man in connection with the 2006 killing of the former Sinn Féin officer
The man is being detained in Letterkenny Garda station in County Donegal.
He is being held under section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
The former senior Sinn Féin officer from west Belfast was shot dead at a remote cottage in Donegal on 4 April 2006. Just months before, he had publicly revealed he had been working as an informer inside the republican movement for a number of years.
Last week, his family called on both the Garda and Police Service of Northern Ireland do more to bring his killers to justice.
In a statement issued through their solicitors, they claimed British security agencies had a part to play in his death.
