Un uomo è stato ferito ad una gamba durante un attacco punitivo in stile paramilitare
La polizia sta chiedendo informazioni sulla sparatoria in stile paramilitare avvenuta in Cecilias Walk, nella zona di Blighs Lane a Derry.
La PSNI ha rilasciato un comunicato: “Intorno alle 18 di questa sera, giovedì 20 novembre, la polizia ha ricevuto notizia che un ventinovenne ha subito ferite da arma da fuoco alla gamba destra. È stato trasportato in ospedale per essere medicato”.
Il parlamentare SDLP Pat Ramsey ha condannato la sparatoria, in cui si ritiene che la vittima potrebbe essere stata colpita quattro volte, come una violazione dei diritti umani.
“Si tratta di un orribile attacco per il quale non ci può essere alcuna scusa. È del tutto inaccettabile e sarà condannato da tutta la comunità.
“Mentre la nostra città si prepara al Natale, per quello che dovrebbe essere un evento molto felice in cui migliaia di persone si raduneranno alla Guildhall per accogliere Babbo Natale e salutare l’accensione delle luminarie da parte del sindaco, è terribile che l’attenzione sarà condivisa anche da coloro che hanno abusato dei diritti umani a Creggan. È davvero questo il messaggio che vogliamo inviare da questa città?”.
L’Ispettore Capo Tony Callaghan ha detto: “Mi appello a chiunque abbia le informazioni su questo incidente affinché contatti la polizia oppure, in forma anonima, attraverso Crimestoppers”.

Derry shooting: 29-year-old man shot in the leg
A man has been shot in a paramilitary style shooting in Derry this evening.
Police are now appealing for information following a paramilitary style shooting in the Cecilias Walk, Blighs Lane area.
A statement from the PSNI said: “At approximately 6pm on this evening, Thursday, November 20, police received a report that a 29-year old-man had received gunshot wounds to his right leg. He has been taken to hospital for treatment to his injuries.”
SDLP MLA Pat Ramsey condemned the shooting, in which it is believed the victim may have been shot four times, as a human rights abuse.
“This is an horrific incident for which there can be no excuse. It is completely unacceptable and will be condemned by the whole community.
“As our city prepares for Christmas with what should be such a happy event in our Guildhall where thousands are gathered to welcome Santa and cheer the Mayor as she turns on the lights, it is terrible that the focus will also be on such human rights abusers in Creggan. Is this really the message we want to send out about our city?”
Chief Inspector Tony Callaghan said: “I would appeal to anyone who has any information about this incident to contact Police at Foyle on the non-emergency number 101.
