L’uomo è stato trasferito all’ospedale Daisy Hill ma in seguito è stato trasferito al Royal Victoria di Belfast. Le sue ferite non mettono a rischio la sua vita.
Dominic Bradley, parlamentare SDLP per Newry e Armagh, ha condannato l’attacco e ha chiesto agli eventuali testimoni di recarsi alla polizia.
“Nessuno ha il diritto di farsi giustizia con le proprie mani con i cosiddetti «attacchi punitivi», che sarebbero da relegare nel passato.
“Il servizio di polizia è istituito per mantenere la legge e questo deve essere fatto nelle aule di tribunale dopo la raccolta di prove”, ha concluso Bradley.

Man shot in ankles in punishment attack
The 25-year-old was shot in both ankles in Ardcarn Park shortly before 9pm on Monday.
He was taken to Daisy Hill Hospital but later transferred to the Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast where his injuries are not believed to be life threatening.
SDLP Newry and Armagh MLA, Dominic Bradley, has condemned the attack and urged anyone with information to go to the police.
He said: “No one has the right to take the law into their own hands in so-called ‘punishment shootings’ which by this time should be consigned to the past.
“The police service is there to enforce the law and that has to be done in open court through evidence gathered,” Mr Bradley added.
