Aumenta la sicurezza al tribunale di Derry

Misure di sicurezza aggiuntive stanno per essere installate presso il tribunal di Derry, dopo il tentativo del mese scorso di far esplodere un ordigno fuori dall’edificio

Più di 120 dissuasori saranno posizionati sul marciapiede fuori dal tribunale, partendo dalle mura cittadine fino a St. Columb’s Court.

Tre settimane fa un’autobomba da 90 chilogrami (200 libbre) è stata disinnescata in Bishop Street, davanti al tribunale.

Esercizi commerciali ed il tribunale furono evacuati durante l’allarme.

Martin McCrossan, presidente del City Centre Traders and Business Forum, afferma che la mossa darà un’immagine negativa della città.

“Ho chiesto al NIO di non farlo. Fa arrivare il messaggio che questo non è un posto accogliente in cui stare”, comunica.

“Penso sia una situazione molto triste ed un passo indietro, ma credo sarebbe peggio se qualcuno fosse rimasto ferito”.

Increased security at Londonderry courthouse

Increased security measures are to be installed at the courthouse in Londonderry after an attempted bomb attack on the building last month.

More than 120 bollards will be placed on the footpath outside the court, stretching from the city walls to St. Columb’s Court.

A 200-hundred-pound car bomb was defused on Bishop Street three weeks ago.

Businesses and the courthouse were evacuated during the alert.

Martin McCrossan, head of the City Centre Traders and Business Forum, said it would portray a negative image of the city.

“I pleaded with the NIO not to do this. This is sending out the message that this is an unwelcoming place to be,” he said.

“I think it’s a very sad situation and a backward step, but i think it would be worse if anyone was injured.”
