Ballymoney, esplosione controllata su pipe bomb

Artificieri a Ballymoney

Controlled explosion in Ballymoney alert

Army bomb experts have carried out a controlled explosion at the scene of a security alert in Ballymoney, Co Antrim, after reports of a suspicious object close to residential premises.

The object – understood to be a suspected pipe bomb – was found on the Ballymena Road on Monday morning and prompted a number of homes to be evacuated.

The Kilraghts Road into Ballymoney has been closed, as has the Ballymena Road in both directions and the Garryduff Road to the Ballymena Road.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area and to seek alternative main routes for their journey.

DUP North Antrim MLA Mervyn Storey visited the scene and hit out at those responsible for the disruption to local people.

“Unfortunately, it would seem that there are some who think they are above the law as there have been a number of incidents recently,” he said.

“However I hope that the police can track down those who are responsible and that they are brought to justice.”
