Belfast: Conway Mill ospita intervento egualitario

La veterana attivista politica Bernadette McAliskey farà parte di un gruppo di accademici e di attivisti comunitari che discuteranno di argomenti sull’uguaglianza come parte del Féile an Phobail.

Ospiti della Queen’s University Belfast e dell’a href=”http://www.ulster.ac.uk/”>University of Ulster saranno insieme a Bernadette McAliskey, lunedì sera, per le presentazioni ed una sessione di domande presso il Conway Mill a West Belfast.

Il segretario del Conway Mill Preservation Trust, Jean McStravick, ha detto: “Il Conway Mill ha una lunga storia nell’ospitare dibattiti e cronache di tutti i rappresentanti delle nostre comunità e dei gruppi di interesse. L’edificio simbolo a West Belfast è visibile da tutta la città ed ha accolto persone da ogni parte della nostra comunità divisa.

“Siamo deliziati nell’accogliere questo importante comitato di ospiti. Bernadette McAliskey ha reputazione di essere una leader per i diritti civili ed umani.

“Ad assisterla ci sarà Eilish Rooney – autrice accademica dell’University of Ulster. Eoin Rooney (non c’è parentela), un accademico che tiene l’agenda sull’uguaglianza alla Queens University e Barney Rooney dell’ente per l’uguaglianza EOLAS”.

La serata terminerà con la presentazione del premio Frank e Tess Cahill per il Servizio Comunitario.

L’evento è ospitato dal Conway Mill Preservation Society e finanziato dal Conway Mill Trust USA e dall’Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh.

“Equality Now” avrà luogo lunedì 3 agosto al Conway Education Centre, presso il Conway Mill, dalle ore 20.
L’evento è gratuito ed aperto a chiunque.

Belfast’s Conway Mill to host equality event

Veteran political activist Bernadette McAliskey will be a among a group of academics and community activists discussing equality issues as part of Féile an Phobail.

Guests from Queen’s University Belfast and University of Ulster will join Ms McAliskey on Monday evening for presentations and a questions session at the Conway Mill building in west Belfast.

Secretary of Conway Mill Preservation Trust Jean McStravick said: “Conway Mill has a long history of hosting debate and social commentary from representatives of all our communities and interest groups. The iconic building in west Belfast is visible from all over the city and has welcomed people from all parts of our divided community.

“We are delighted to welcome this distinguished panel of guests. Bernadette McAliskey has a reputation as a leader of civil and human rights.

“Joining her on the evening will be Eilish Rooney – a much published academic from UUJ. Eoin Rooney (no relation) an academic pursuing the equality agenda at QUB and Barney Rooney from equality authority EOLAS.”

The evening will finish with the presentation of the Frank and Tess Cahill Award for Community Service.

The event is hosted by Conway Mill Preservation Society and funded by Conway Mill Trust Inc. USA and the Ireland Institute of Pittsburgh.

‘Equality Now’ takes place Monday 3 August at the Conway Education Centre, Conway Mill, from 8pm. The event is free and open to everyone.
