Blast bomb contro PSNI a Craigavon

Una blast bomb è stata lanciata contro una pattuglia della polizia nella zona di Meadowbrook a Craigvon

La polizia rivela che la pattuglia stava svolgendo attività di routin quando, intorno alle 10:10 di mercoledì, l’ordigno – una granata realizzata artigianalmente – è stato lanciato.

Nessuno degli agenti – della squadra PSNI di quartiere – è rimasto ferito.

Il Comandante distrettuale, Soprintendente Capo Alasdair Robinson, parla di “attacco scellerato contro agenti di polizia che cercano solamente di svolgere il loro lavoro”.

“E’ stata una fortuna sfacciata che nessuno di questi agenti sia rimasto ucciso o gravemente ferito”, ha aggiunto.

“A inizio settimana abbiamo lanciato il programma di impegni, ossia ciò che le comunità possono aspettarsi da noi.

“Questi poliziotti erano per strada per rispettare quell’impegno, fornendo alla gente il servizio di polizia basato sulla comunità che desidera”.

Blast bomb thrown at police patrol in Craigavon

A blast bomb has been thrown at a police foot patrol in the Meadowbrook area of Craigavon.

Police said the officers were on routine patrol at about 1010 BST on Wednesday when the device was thrown.

None of the officers – from the PSNI’s neighbourhood team – were injured.

District Commander, Chief Supt Alasdair Robinson said it was “a mindless attack on police officers just trying to do their jobs”.

“It is by sheer good fortune that one of those officers was not killed or seriously injured,” he added.

“Earlier this week we launched the policing commitments, our pledge to communities about what they can expect from us.

“Those officers were out on the streets delivering on that pledge, providing people with the kind of community based policing service they want.”
