Bomba da 1000 libbre? Solo “speculazioni”

Il rapporto secondo cui una bomba da 1000 libbre (circa 450 chilogrammi) è stata lasciata sotto ad un sottopasso a Newry, è descritto dalla polizia come “pura speculazione”.

Secondo il Belfast Telegraph di questa mattina, l’imponente ordigno sarebbe stato due volte quello esploso ad Omagh.

Comunque un portavoce della PSNI ha rifiutato di confermare o di negare se una bomba è stata scoperta nel camion da 12 metri, al centro di un allarme sicurezza nella giornata di ieri.

La polizia ha comunicato di aver portato via “molti oggetti per sottoporli ad indagine”.

A report that a 1000lb dissident bomb had been abandoned on the Newry bypass, has been described as “purely speculation” by police.
According to this morning’s Belfast Telegraph, the massive device was twice the size of the Omagh bomb.

However, a PSNI spokesman declined to confirm or deny if a bomb had been discovered on the 40ft lorry at the centre of yesterday’s security alert, decribing the newspaper report as “purely speculation”.

The police would only confirm that a “number of items were taken away for investigation”
