Una delle pricipali figure nella “guerra” dell’IRA ha lanciato un mordace attacco contro i dissidenti repubblicani, descrivendo le loro azioni come “futili, senza scopo, superflue, uno spreco di vite e di libertà”.
L’articolo, scritto da Bobby Storey, è apparso nell’ultima edizione del West Belfast Sinn Fein News.
Segue i recenti attacchi portati dai dissidenti alla base di Massereene Baracks e a Craigavon – nel corso dei quali la Real IRA e la Continuity IRA ha ucciso due soldati ed un poliziotto.
Lo Special Branch ed i servizi (MI5) considerano Storey una delle persone più influenti nella dirigenza IRA, essendo stato il direttore dell’Intelligence.
E’ stato collegato a molte azioni “spettacolari”.
Il repubblicano di West Belfast è stato bersaglio di un’operazione di spionaggio e sorveglianza, nome in codice Torsion, che prese il via dopo il furto presso gli uffici di Castlereagh dello Special Branch e in seguito allo scandalo chiamato Stormontgate.
Nel suo articolo sui dissidenti, Storey ha scritto: “Questi gruppi girano intorno a persone e cliché, non sono basati su politiche o ideologie. I loro interessi sono egoistici – non politici.
“Quando osservate le attività di questi gruppi per un periodo di tempo ampio, nessuno è stato in grado di articolare una qualsiasi ragione politica, morale, strategica o di altra natura per ciò che stanno facendo.
“Al contrario non hanno alcun sostegno popolare, nessuna strategia e nessun programma che possa far progredire l’obiettivo repubblicano di un’Irlanda unita.
“In aggiunta ci sono numerosi indizi che collegano tutti questi gruppi alla criminalità, ad attacchi rancorosi, uccisioni, ferimenti, rapine, rapimenti lampo, importazione e spaccio di droga ed estorsione degli spacciatori”, ha aggiunto.
L’articolo di Storey segue l’etichettatura dei dissidenti come “traditori” da parte del vice primo ministro Martin McGuinness – per decenni leader dell’Army Council durante i Troubles.
Sui gruppi dissidenti Storey ha proseguito: “In realtà il loro unico obiettivo è il desiderio di distruggere il processo di pace e minare la strategia dello Sinn Fein per ragiungere l’unità?
“E’ generalmente accettato e compreso che tutti questi gruppi sono infiltrati da agenti britannici”, ha scritto Storey.
“Nello stesso modo in cui possiamo guardare indietro ai gruppi lealisti ed alle loro faide interne e vedere il ruolo avuto dagli agenti britannici, non ho dubbi che negli ani a venire potremo guardare indietro a questi micro gruppi e vedere le stesse sinistre influenze all’opera.
“La realtà è che le azioni di questi gruppi sono futili, senza scopo, superflue, uno spreco di vite e di libertà”, conclude il Provos.
Bobby Storey è adesso il presidente dello Sinn Fein a Belfast ed è strettamente identificato con le dirigenza di Adams-McGuinness e la strategia del processo di pace repubblicano.
Dissident campaign pointless, says top Provo

The hard-hitting article — penned by Bobby Storey — appears in the latest edition of West Belfast Sinn Fein News.
It follows the recent dissident attacks at Massereene Barracks and in Craigavon — shootings in which the Real and Continuity IRA killed two soldiers and a police officer.
Special Branch and the Security Service (MI5) consider Storey to have been one of the most influential figures in the IRA leadership — its Director of Intelligence.
He has been linked to many of that organisation’s so-called “spectaculars”.
The west Belfast republican was the target of a bugging and surveillance operation, codenamed Torsion, and which took place following the Castlereagh Special Branch robbery and the Stormontgate intelligence-gathering scandal.
In his article on the dissidents, Storey writes: “These groups revolve around personalities and cliques, not politics or ideology. Their interests are self-serving — not political.
“When you look at the activities of these groups over a prolonged period of time, nobody has been able to articulate any political, moral, strategic or other reason for what they are doing.
“On the contrary they have no popular support, no strategies and no programmes which can in any way advance the core republican goal of a united Ireland.
“In addition there is substantial evidence linking all of these groups to criminality, grudge attacks, killings, contract shootings, robberies, tiger-kidnappings, the importing and dealing of drugs and the extortion of drug dealers,” he added.
The Storey article follows the labelling of dissidents as “traitors” by Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness — an Army Council leader during decades of the IRA’s campaign.
On the dissident groups Storey writes: “In reality the only objective they all share is a desire to destroy the peace process and undermine the Sinn Fein strategy to achieve a United Ireland?
“It is also generally accepted and understood that all of these groups are heavily infiltrated by British Intelligence,” he claimed.
“In the same way that we can look back now at loyalist groups and feuds and see the role which British agents have played in that, I have no doubt that in years to come we will be able to look back at these micro groups and see the same sinister influences at work.
“The reality is that the actions of these groups are futile, purposeless, pointless, a waste of life and a waste of freedom,” he wrote.
Bobby Storey is now chairman of Sinn Fein in Belfast and is closely identified with the Adams-McGuinness leadership and the republican peace process strategy.
