Case attaccate a East Belfast alle prime ore di venerdì

Windows broken in east Belfast houses

About 15 people attacked a number of houses in east Belfast in the early hours of Friday morning.

PSNI | Polizia | PolicePolice said they responded to reports of trouble at about 01.50 GMT on the Lower Newtownards Road. Windows were broken at the houses.

They said there was then a “confrontation” between residents and the attackers.

A 27-year-old man has been charged for possessing an offensive weapon and a man, 20, was arrested for rioting.

The 27-year-old is due to appear in court in 21 January.

PSNI Supt John McCaughan appealed to residents in communities to remain calm.

“Tensions are heightened; however, we would ask that people take a step back and consider the wider implications of engaging in any criminal behaviour,” he said.

“Police will have a visible presence on the streets of south and east Belfast over the festive period in order to help keep residents and communities safe.”
