Gli attacchi razzisti sono avvenuti a Portadown la scorsa notte. Nessuno è rimasto ferito.
Sono stati eseguiti a sole quarantotto ore dal lancio di una campagna voluta dal governo e dalla polizia per cercare di ridurre l’alto numero di crimoni dell’odio registrati in Irlanda del Nord.
Nel primo incidente, le finestre fronte strada di una casa in Princess Way sono state infrante, mentre la famiglia indiana, composta da una coppia coi due loro bambini, si trovava all’interno.
Poco dopo stessa sorte per una casa di Princess Gardens. In questo caso gli assalitori hanno rotto tre finestre. Nessuno era in casa al momento dell’attacco.
Una portavoce della polizia ha detto: “Stiamo trattanto entrambi gli incidenti come crimini dovuto all’odio”.
La PSNI chiede ai testimoni di mettersi in contatto con loro.
Indian families have homes attacked
The racist attacks were carried out in Portadown last night – no-one was injured.
They were launched just 48 hours after a multi-agency campaign involving police and government was launched in a bid to cut down the high number of hate crimes being recorded in Northern Ireland.
In the first incident the front windows of a house in Princess Way were smashed while the Indian occupants, a couple and their two children, were inside.
A short time later three windows were smashed in a house around the corner in Princess Gardens. No-one was at home at the time.
A police spokeswoman said: “We are treating both incidents as hate crimes.”
Police appealed for anyone who witnessed the attacks or knew anything about them to contact them or to use the confidential telephone.
