Un ventiduenne è stato rimandato in custodia accusato di possesso di una bomba di mortaio
Connor Hughes è stato arrestato dopo il sequestro dell’ordigno avvenuto giovedì a West Belfast.
Una bomba e un comando a filo sono stati ritrovati all’interno di una sacca da viaggio nel corso di un’operazione di polizia in Shaw’s Road.
Connor Hughes, 22 anni da Dunmurry, affronta un’accusa di possesso di un ordigno esplosivo improvvisato con l’intento di mettere in pericolo la vita.
Apparendo in aula alla Belfast Magistrates Court l’uomo si è rifiutato di rispondere quando il presunto reato gli è stato comunicato.
Connor Hughes ha salutato un gruppo di amici presenti nella galleria del pubblico.
Non è stata depositata alcuna domanda di rilascio con la condizionale durante la breve udienza.
Connor Hughes è stato rimandato in custodia cautelare. Comparirà nuovamente in aula tramite video-collegamento entro 4 settimane.

Man remanded over holdall mortar bomb
A man was remanded into custody on Monday accused of having an improvised mortar bomb.
Connor Hughes was arrested after the device was seized in west Belfast last Thursday.
A bomb and command wire were found inside a holdall during the police operation on the Shaw’s Road.
Hughes, 22, from Altan Close in the Dunmurry area, faces a charge of possessing an improvised explosive device with intent to endanger life.
Appearing before Belfast Magistrates’ Court the accused declined to reply when the alleged offence was put to him.
He waved at a group of supporters gathered in the public gallery.
No application for bail was made during the brief hearing.
Hughes was remanded in custody to appear again by video-link in four weeks time.
