Lo Sinn Féin riferisce che la polizia ha avvertito il vice primo ministro nordirlandese di una nuova minaccia proveniente dai gruppi repubblicani
A marzo McGuinness era stato informato da un ufficiale di polizia di “una minaccia reale e attiva contro la sua vita proveniente da un gruppo di Derry”.
Per Raymond McCartney, parlamentare shinner, la minaccia è stata presa seriamente.
“I responsabili stanno manipolando i giovani per fargli attaccare Martin McGuinness”, ha affermato.
“Ci sono stati alcuni attacchi contro la casa di Martin e un’aggressione verbale contro sua moglie.
“Le hanno fatto commenti sulla sua famiglia e su suo marito. Bernie non è una persona pubblica e Martin cerca di proteggere la sua famiglia dai riflettori”.
McCartney spiega che la polizia ha detto al numero due del governo nordirlandese che la minaccia proviene “da elementi contrari al processo di pace”.
Per il politico dello Sinn Féin i responsabili dovrebbero fermarsi.

Dissidents renew threat to kill McGuinness say Sinn Fein
Sinn Fein has said the police have warned the deputy first minister Martin McGuinness of a renewed threat from dissident republicans.
In March, Mr McGuinness said a senior police officer informed him of “a real and active threat against his life from a dissident group in Derry city”.
Sinn Fein MLA, Raymond McCartney, said the threat was being taken seriously.
“Those responsible are manipulating young people to attack Martin McGuinness,” he said.
“There have been a number of attacks on Martin’s home and a verbal attack on his wife.
“They made comments about her family and about her husband. Bernie isn’t a very public person and Martin tries to protect his family from public life.”
Mr McCartney said police told the deputy first minister that he was being threatened by “anti peace process elements”.
He said the people responsible should stop.
