Il gruppo armato, responsabile anche dell’omicidio dell’agente di polizia Stephen Carroll nel 2009, ha affermato di aver ucciso McManus per il suo coinvolgimento in attività criminali e per aver “terrorizzato la comunità con accette, coltelli e spade”.
In una sinistra minaccia, il gruppo ha aggiunto che qualunque rappresaglia contro i suoi membri sarà gestita con “estrema forza”.

CIRA admits pizza delivery driver murder
It is understood the paramilitary group used a recognised codeword to claim responsibilty for the murder of the 26-year-old pizza delivery driver in west Belfast.
The republican group, who were behind the murder of PSNI officer Stephen Carroll in March 2009, said they murdered Mr McManus because of involvement in criminality and “terrorising the community with hatchets, knives and swords”.
In a sinister threat, the group added that any retaliation against its members would be met with “extreme force”.
