Coppia di Ardoyne riceve minacce di morte da lealisti

Una donna il cui compagno è stato arrestato in seguito ai disordini scoppiati la scorsa settimana ad Ardoyne ha ricevuto una minaccia di morte inviata dai lealisti.

Una cartolina è stata consegnata alla casa di Arlene Shannon. Minaccia che lei ed il suo compagno, Aidan Ferguson, potrebbero essere assassinati dal gruppo paramilitare lealista, dei Red Hand Defenders.

Hannon (28 anni), dice: “Sono assolutamente terrificata. Ho ancora i nervi scossi. Abbiamo tre figli e sono stati mandati tutti con i parenti, compresa la mia figlia di cinque anni. Non è sicuro per loro restare qui”.

Shannon ha ricevuto la cartolina, che adesso è stata consegnata all’avvocato, venerdì scorso.

“Sul fronte la cartolina recitava ‘Con la più profonda simpatia per la vostra triste perdita’.

“Dentro c’era la frase ‘Kill All Taigs’ (Uccidi tutti i cattolici) scritta a mano circa 30 volte”, ha detto.

“C’era una fotografia tratta da un giornale di Aidan e me e la scritta ‘Sgualdrina feniana’. Anche sulla foto c’era la scritta ‘Kill All Taigs’ con una freccia che puntava verso di noi”.

Shannon ha detto che la cartolina era firmata ‘Red Hand Defenders’, un nome di copertura in precedenza usato dall’UDA.

“Hanno scritto ‘Non siamo contenti. Verremo a trovarvi presto, molto presto'”. Shanno ha riferito che l’avvocato ha consegnato la cartolina alla polizia.

Aidan Ferguson è stato arrestato nella casa di Shannon mercoledì ed interrogato su un colpo di arma da fuoco sparato contro la polizia durante i disordini di due giorni prima. E’ stato rilasciato senza alcuna accusa nella giornata di giovedì.

Il suo arresto è stato ripreso da una squadra di operatori televisivi che si trovava fuori dalla casa quando la polizia lo ha prelevato.
Il numero dell’abitazione è stato mostrato in televisione. Ferguson ha chiesto come mai i mezzi di comunicazione fossero apparentemente informati del suo arresto.

Ha affermato di essere stato aggredito dalla polizia dentro alla casa e che sua sorella Lauren ha subito una strip search quando è entrata nell’abitazione.

Secondo Ferguson lo Sinn Fein ha “collaborato” al suo arresto. Sono stati necessari una dozzina di agenti per portarlo fuori da casa.

“Stavo gridando alla polizia, ‘Bobby Storey (importante Provos) è troppo codardo per essere qui adesso?’ e ‘Perché non vengono loro giù dal loro ufficio dello Sinn Fein e mi arrestano invece di mandare voi?'” ha proseguito Ferguson.

La polizia ha perquisito l’abitazione per tre ore e ha portato via abiti appartenuti a Ferguson.

Ardoyne couple receives death threat card from loyalist group

A woman whose partner was arrested following last week’s rioting in Ardoyne has been sent a death threat by loyalists.

A sympathy card was posted to Arlene Shannon’s Ardoyne home. It warned that she and her partner, Aidan Ferguson, would be killed by the loyalist paramilitary group, the Red Hand Defenders.

Shannon (28) said: “I am absolutely terrifed. I am still shaking with nerves. I have three kids and they’ve all been sent to stay with relatives, including my five-week-old daughter. It’s not safe for them to stay here.”

Shannon received the card, which is now with her solicitor, on Friday.

“On the front, the card said ‘With Deepest Sympathy on Your Sad Loss.’

“Inside ‘Kill All Taigs’ was hand-written about 30 times,” she said.

“There was a newspaper photograph of Aidan and myself and ‘Fenian slut’ was written down the side of it. ‘Kill All Taigs’ was also written above the photo with arrows pointing down at us.”

Shannon said the card was signed ‘Red Hand Defenders’, which has previously been used as a UDA cover-name.

“They wrote, ‘We aren’t very happy. We’ll be seeing you soon, very soon.'” Shannon said her solicitor would be forwarding the card to the PSNI.

Aidan Ferguson was arrested at Shannon’s home on Wednesday and questioned about a shot which was fired at police during rioting two days earlier. He was then released without charge on Thursday.

His arrest was broadcast on TV by a camera crew who were outside the house as police removed him. The house number was shown on television. Ferguson questiond how the media apparently knew he would be arrested.

He claimed he had been assaulted by police inside the house and that his sister Lauren was later strip-searched when she entered the house.

Ferguson alleged that Sinn Féin had “collaborated” in his arrest. It took a dozen officers to carry him from the house.

“I was shouting at the police, ‘Is Bobby Storey (senior Provisional) too yellow to be here now?’ and ‘Why don’t they come down from the Sinn Féin centre and arrest me instead of sending you monkeys?” Ferguson said.

Police searched the house for three hours and took away clothes belonging to Ferguson.
